Anyone who’s been to Budapest and experienced the city’s iconic thermal baths will know the healing power they can have – both physically and mentally.

It's a fact well-known to locals, who have bathed in the mineral-rich thermal waters to help them soothe, repair, and protect their skin for decades. There are said to be up to 26 different minerals that occur naturally in these waters thanks to the unique geology of the Hungarian capital.

It was these baths and the healing powers from within them that encouraged Stephen and Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza to create their namesake skincare brand.

Launching on February 1, Omorovicza’s new Queen Serum is the latest addition to the complexion-perfecting Queen Collection.

Specifically designed for daytime wear, the new serum was created to visibly reduce the depth of wrinkles and add more density to the skin with its retinol-like Mediterranean microalgae formula.

The breakthrough formula mimics the dynamic activity of retinol to minimise fine lines and wrinkles and helps to maintain key components of the skin’s barrier.

The serum also includes lithops stem cells, extracted from the living stone plant, to boost vitamin D synthesis and hydration, while extract of Engelhardtia chrysolepis enhances elasticity and firmness.

A recent clinical study of the serum has found that after just half an hour, 100 per cent of subjects said their skin elasticity firmness, and radiance had improved, while another 100 per cent of respondents said their skin looked lifted, and 96 per cent said their fine lines and wrinkles had reduced. Staggering results.

“The geology of the area in and around Budapest is [unique] because of an extraordinary coincidence of many factors,” scientist Max Coleman explains. “[This includes] unusually high heat flow up from the molten core of the Earth, a thinner crust in the Hungarian basin than elsewhere, Triassic carbonate mineral deposits and deep fractures resulting from compression and extension of tectonic plates which allow water to journey down to areas of great heat and emerge charged with minerals.”

Essentially, what this means is that these waters naturally contain anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, which can all help to regenerate the skin by boosting levels of hydration, oxygenation and collagen.

Omorovicza harnessed this power and created their Healing Concentrate which sits in the heart of every Omorovicza product and is clinically proven to improve skin firmness, elasticity, and skin barrier function. You can buy the serum here.
