Netflix edits out Kim Kardashian being booed during Tom Brady roast appearance
Viewers of the recorded version won't hear the loud boos directed at Kim Kardashian when she took the stage at Tom Brady’s live Netflix comedy roast on Sunday.
The Kardashians star was among the lineup of celebrities, which included Ben Affleck and Chelsea Handler, at the comedy event that streamed live on Sunday, May 5.
During the original live stream, the audience began booing when host Kevin Hart introduced Kardashian, and the booing persisted for more than 10 seconds, causing her to pause in the middle of her first joke.
Hart had to intervene to quiet the audience, and then Kardashian repeated her first joke, this time targeting Hart.
The current version on Netflix includes a disclaimer stating that the show was "edited from a previous livestream," and it skips the part where Kardashian was booed, only showing her receiving applause before delivering her joke.
The Standard has contacted Netflix for comment.
The SKIMS founder used the roast as an opportunity to make light of speculation that she and the ex-quarterback for the New England Patriots were dating.
She quipped: “I'm really here tonight for Tom. I wasn’t going to come tonight, but since I’m not here as Tom’s date, there’s still a good chance I might.”
“Speaking of Tom and I dating, I know there were some rumours that we were, and I’d never say if we did or not. I’d just release the tape,” Kardashian continued, referencing her 2007 sex tape with rapper Ray J.
Despite editing out the boos in the special, Netflix has kept a controversial joke by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe aimed at the reality TV star.
Hinchcliffe, known for his edgy comedy style, was discussing Will Ferrell’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and its famous line about a "Whale’s vagina" when he made Kardashian the subject of his roast.
