Cara Delevingne hits back at trolls after cruel claims the star was ‘coked up’ during Met Gala interview

Cara Delevingne responded to trolls who cruelly accused her of being “coked up” during a Met Gala interview, despite her sobriety for nearly two years.

The model-turned-actress has openly discussed her battle with drugs and alcohol, including her experiences with rehab following unsuccessful interventions from family members.

At the Met Gala, the 31-year-old appeared happy and healthy, just weeks after a fire devastated her home in Los Angeles.

Dressed in a VRAI x Stella McCartney headpiece covered in lab-grown diamonds, the West End star stopped for an interview with E! News which was interrupted by the designer and fellow guest Ed Sheeran.

Surprised, the American Horror Story actress widened her eyes in shock as they appeared from behind and jokingly called them “mum” and “dad”, leading trolls to accuse her of being drunk or on drugs.

One fan accused: “She’s not sober the way she even stroked the interviewer’s wrist… She’s nowhere near sober.”

“They’re saving her from ruining the interview because she’s so coked up they had to intervene,” another claimed in the comments.

However, many came to the defense of the British star and criticised the trolls for raising such a sensitive topic in a callous manner

Delevingne herself fired back at the comments and stated: “Been clear for nearly two years!! Thanks for the support.”

Concern about her health first arose in September 2022 when pap shots showed the supermodel looking dishevelled and behaving erratically after attending Burning Man festival.

She disclosed that initially, she had distanced herself from her friends, but after the pictures surfaced, everyone, including her Suicide Squad co-star Margot Robbie, came together to support her.

Last year, she spoke about how difficult it was to recover - but revealed she is the happiest she’s ever been.

She told Elle UK last July: “It hasn’t [been easy], but there have never been moments when I’m like, ‘This isn’t worth it.’

“It’s been worth every second. I just don’t know what it would take for me to give it up. I am stable. I’m calmer.”

Before adding: “For a long time, I felt like I was hiding a lot from people who looked up to me. I finally feel as though I can be free and myself, fully.”

Delevingne’s appearance at the Met Gala comes amid her West End debut in Cabaret opposite Luke Treadaway.
